The particle model

Everything is particles. Heat them and they move faster and further apart.

1

Learn it

Use the particle model to explain the properties of solids, liquids and gases and changes of state

Idea 1 of 4

Everything is made of particles

All matter is made of tiny particles that are always moving. The gaps between them are empty space — not air. Heating gives them more energy, so they move faster.
